Founded in 1996 by Coach Alan Freeman, the team was originally affiliated with Cuesta College Community Programs. Named Puma after the Cuesta College mascot the Cougar, PUMA Aquatics is a supportive and positive swim family for youth on the Central Coast. Community Programs is happy to host Bronze through Senior levels. Level descriptions can be found below.
Interested in joining PUMA? Call or text Head Coach Jud Clark at 805-709-7946 to schedule a required in-person 'Swim Assessment'. Following the assessment your swimmer will be ready to register for the appropriate level.

Cubs |
Our youngest group is perfect for swimmers that are comfortable in the water and are yearning for something more than swim lessons. Emphasis on proper body position, efficiency, breathing, and timing. Must be able to swim half the length of the pool with the beginning stages of side breathing for freestyle and should be comfortable floating on their back. Ages 4-8. Meets in the Warm Pool. |
Bronze |
Emphasis on proper body positioning with the basic strokes of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Work on flip turns, open turns, backstroke starts and underwater transitions. Ages 7-10. Meets in the Competition Pool. |
Silver |
Designed for novice swimmers that are younger than 12 with prior swimming experience. Stroke enhancement and racing strategies are developed. Ages 8-11. Meets in the Competition Pool. |
Gold |
Work on stroke mechanics for all strokes. Improve endurance and racing skills. Many Gold swimmers compete at local and championship meets such as Junior Olympics or Summer Age Group and Winter Age Group Championships. Ages 8-11. Meets in the Competition Pool. |
Platinum |
For swimmers making the transition from Gold to Junior, the Platinum group focuses on advanced stroke mechanics, racing skills, endurance and development of individual goals. Ages 11-14. Meets in the Competition Pool. |
Junior |
For swimmers ready for advanced stroke mechanics along with more challenging training. Development of individual goals and team leadership skills. Ages 13-18. Meets in the Competition Pool. |
Senior |
Concentration on proper swim mechanics in more intense workouts. Development of goals and achieving success both through mind and body. Get ready for an awesome swimming experience! Ages 13-18. Meets in the Competition Pool. |
