San Luis Obispo County Community College District, Cuesta College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, 331 J St., Suite 200, Sacramento, CA 95814, (415) 506-0234, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.

The Licensed Vocational Nursing Program at Cuesta College is approved by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) and by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.

The Associate Degree Registered Nursing Program at Cuesta College is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.

The Psychiatric Technician Program is approved by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians and by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.

The Cuesta College Paramedic Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and approved by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professional and by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.

The Automotive Technology Program is accredited by the Automotive Service Excellence Education Foundation

History

On April 16, 1963, San Luis Obispo County voters approved the formation of a countywide junior college district. In 1964, Cuesta College opened its doors to students in old army barracks. Much has occurred over its more than 50-year history. Read all about it on the history page.
