2023 Cuesta College Student Annual
The Harold J. Miossi Art Gallery and Cuesta College are pleased to present the 2023 Cuesta College Student Annual Art Exhibition. Featuring ceramics, drawing, graphic design, digital art, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture, this juried annual exhibition serves to celebrate and showcase the talent and creativity of Cuesta students. The juror for the 2023 Student Annual is award winning Artist Dane Goodman.
The 2023 Cuesta College Student Annual Art Exhibition will open on Thursday April 20, 2023 with reception from 4:30 – 7:00pm and an awards presentation at 5:15pm. Awards are made possible in part by the Helen Novy Art Fund. The exhibition will run April 20- May 19, 2023.
About the Juror
Dane Goodman has been a lecturer and artist-in-residence at museums, colleges, universities, and workshops in California, New Mexico, and the Midwest. He has been nominated for the National Award in the Visual Arts and the Friends of Contemporary Art Award in Los Angeles by James Elaine of the Hammer Museum. His work has been featured in Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine and reviewed in such publications as Art LTD, Artweek, and Appearances. He is a recipient of the County of Santa Barbara Individual Artist Award and has twice been invited as a panelist for the National Endowment of the Arts, Washington DC.
He collaborated with the artist Keith Puccinelli on two major projects: at Jane Deering Gallery, the other at Westmont Ridley-Tree Museum of Art. The former has a catalog with essay by David Pagel, Los Angeles Times art critic and the latter has an essay by Los Angeles based Christopher Miles, artist, curator/writer.
While Goodman was the director of the Atkinson Gallery, Santa Barbara City College, he curated numerous solo and group exhibitions of artists from the Santa Barbara and Ventura region as well as New York and Los Angeles. He has also curated area artists’ exhibitions at the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum (now the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara) and the College of Creative Studies Gallery, UCSB.
