Tributaries is a roving exhibition of artists with diverse practices who share a common geography in a small coastal town in Northern California.
This occasion of tributaries came together after a visit by Emma Saperstein, Harold J Miossi Art Gallery Curator, to the first tributaries confluence in West Marin. The spirit of the gathering compelled her to invite us to share ideas, histories, futures and their aesthetics with her Cuesta and San Luis Obispo community.
The first exhibition featured visual work at a small artist run gallery and a number of events around town for its duration including panel discussions, screenings, performance art happenings and music events.
This second iteration will begin a cross cultural dialogue and sharing between our communities. The Harold J Miossi Gallery provides the space for an expanded survey of work from the contributing Tributaries artists and the events and discussions will provide fertile ground for cultural exchange.
In addition to the opening and reception there will be screenings, happenings and studio visits with Cuesta students.
This project is facilitated by Emma Saperstein and Perry Shimon.
