The Psychiatric Technician Program is a full time program that requires a commitment of rigorous study for one year. This program is offered at The Department of State Hospitals-Atascadero in Atascadero, CA. Students attend classes and clinical rotations 5 days a week for 7 hours each day and are expected to pass each course with a minimum score of 77%. Students must have reliable transportation and be prepared to potentially drive as far south as Santa Maria and as far north as King City.

Applications to the Psychiatric Technician Program at the Department of State Hospitals-Atascadero are currently being accepted for January 2025 admission. You must be 18 years of age, have a valid driver's license and social security card, and have completed at least high school or GED equivalent to be considered. Completed applications must be received in the Psychiatric Technician Program Office at the Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero, 10333 El Camino Real by 3:00 p.m., September 6, 2024.
