Phlebotomy Program Information
Phlebotomy (PHLB 109A/B) is an 18 week (1 semester) program, offered in the fall and spring semesters at both our SLO County campus and North County campus (NCC) in Paso Robles. This 3.0 credit certificate program consists of PHLB 109A & PHLB 109B, which are corequisites.
PHLB 109A (Lecture/Classroom Skills - 2.0 credits)
Prepares the student in essential blood specimen collecting skills to fulfill state
phlebotomy certificate requirements.
PHLB 109B (Clinical Externship - 1.0 credits)
Provides students the opportunity of a clinical externship to apply knowledge and
skills to an acute and/or ambulatory care laboratory setting.
SCHEDULE
Phlebotomy students attend lectures, complete skills lab practice and participate in clinical externship hours. Class meets on Tuesdays or Thursday, with day depending on which PHLB 109A/B section you register for. Clinical externship placements and schedules are determined by the Phlebotomy instructor.
