Awareness Gallery

In partnership with the SLO County Behavioral Health Department, Cuesta is hosting its 3rd annual Awareness Gallery to reflect the health needs and perspectives of the campus community. The Awareness Gallery is an informative and interactive exhibit which will be on display in both campus libraries (SLO and North County, Paso Robles) for two weeks, beginning the week of Oct 14. All are welcome to view and add to the gallery.

"20th Century African Ceramics"

Ongoing through Finals Week Fall 2024
Cuesta Library Lobby, SLO Campus

Stop by to enjoy an exhibit of 20th Century African Ceramics in the library, curated by our Art Department Faculty, on exhibit this semester. Location is the glass cases on the library's  inside staircase landing. Featured are several large, red earthenware pots from The Gambia, West Africa. These functional vessels were likely created by female Malinke potters. From the                                                                                    collection of Cuesta College; donated to the college by Susan Chirman.

Features depictions of frogs in Native American art (ceramics, a Katchina doll), jewelry and more. Loaned from the collection of Biology Instructor Nancy Mann.
Now on display  in the SLO Campus Library through Finals Week.

Myriam Gurba
Join us for a lecture and book signing by queer Latinx poet, author, and visual artist Myriam Gurba. Her latest book, Creep: Accusations and Confessions, is a provocative collection of essays exploring the creeping toxicity and negativity that has wormed its way into our lives. She is also the acclaimed author of Mean, a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award in LGBTQ Nonfiction.

Native American Heritage Month is observed in November to call attention to the culture, traditions, and achievements of the nation's original inhabitants and of their descendents. Cuesta Library has a fantastic selection of books for all ages on the topic of Native Americans. Come view our display and check out a few books! On display throughout November 2023.
