Jazz Faculty Concert Dedicated to CPAC
SAN LUIS OBISPO – On Friday, September 6th, the Cuesta College Jazz Faculty will perform a concert entitled the “Harold J. Miossi Dedication Concert” at 7:30 p.m. in the Harold J. Miossi Cultural and Performing Arts Center (CPAC) on the San Luis Obispo campus.
The concert is in recognition of the Miossi Trust, a $1.5M grant entrusted to the Cuesta College Foundation to support the visual and performing arts. Approximately $300K of the funds assist the CPAC’s mission to enhance and promote quality, community-accessible programming.
“We are honored to have the support of the Miossi Trust,” said CPAC Supervisor Joan Hurwit. “To recognize this generous gift, we are dedicating our Jazz Faculty concert to our newly named Harold J. Miossi CPAC at Cuesta College. The Cuesta Jazz Faculty are some of the most sought-after performers on the Central Coast, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate.”
Ron McCarley will direct the concert. Featured performers include Bob Bennett, David Becker, Dylan Johnson, John Knutson, Ron McCarley, Wes Smith, George Stone, and Darrell Voss.
General admission tickets are $19.99 and $9.99 for students, with all proceeds benefitting the Music Student Scholarship Fund. Tickets are on sale now at tickets.cuesta.edu.
The Cuesta College Music Department began their faculty concerts in Spring 2005 when music faculty member Jennifer Martin discovered a student living in their car. The student shared that with limited funds, they could either choose to pay rent or go to classes – the student decided to attend school. To match that dedication, the music faculty began to play one concert every semester to raise funds for music student scholarships. The Spring 2019 concert raised $4,000 for the scholarship fund.
