Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX) is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally funded educational programs and activities. Under Title IX, sexual violence and sexual harassment are forms of discrimination on the basis of sex. The Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, which enforces Title IX, has provided detailed guidance on how educational institutions like Cuesta College must investigate and respond to complaints of sexual violence and sexual harassment.

Students, faculty and staff of Cuesta College, including volunteers, guests and visitors, have the right to be free from sexual misconduct and any other form of gender-based discrimination and violence.  All members of the campus community are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that does not infringe upon the rights of others.

Cuesta College does not tolerate sexual misconduct or harassment of any kind.
