Form A: Prerequisite Clearance Request Form Complete Form A for clearance of courses completed at colleges/universities other than Cuesta. See link for computer enforced courses.

Please note: if you are a new student to Cuesta and have not completed college English or math courses, you may need to take an English or math assessment test. Please visit the assessment website for further information.

Form B: Prerequisite/Corequisite Course Challenge Form Complete Form B for challenging prerequisites based on other grounds. Students must provide compelling evidence to support their challenge. It is the student's responsibility to attain the appropriate department chair's signature prior to submission of the Form B to the Prerequisite Office. Form C: Physics Prerequisite Evaluation Form Complete Form C for clearance of PHYSICS courses completed at an institution other than Cuesta. The student must attain the Physics Department Chair's signature prior to submission of the Form C to the Prerequisite Office.

Clearance or challenge petitions can be submitted in person, by mail or by fax.

  • Hand deliver: to the Academic Counseling Department in the Student Services building(SLO or NCC).
  • Mail: to Cuesta College, Counseling Office (attention Prerequisites), P.O. Box 8106, Cuesta College, San Luis Obispo, CA 93403-8106.
  • FAX: to Prerequisite Analyst at (805) 546-3113.

Notification of completed clearance request:

  • Once your request has been received and processed, written notification of the decision will be sent to your myCuesta email account. Your email account can be accessed through your myCuesta student page.
  • An approved clearance request does not guarantee a space in any course. After you receive an approval, you may register for your class at your designated registration time period.
  • Clearance of a prerequisite or corequisite course will only be applied towards prerequisite approval for Cuesta College courses and NOT for unit credit nor transfer purposes. Other institutions are not obligated to accept Cuesta College's evaluation of external coursework.
