Cuesta College Celebrates “Día De Los Muertos”
Día De Los Muertos translated, Day of the Dead, is a centuries old tradition with indigenous roots in Mexico that celebrates the life of those who have died. Traditionally, families will decorate the graves of their loved ones and build altars in their home adorned with photographs, food and treasured possessions of their loved ones to welcome them home. It is believed that on this one day the souls return to earth to be with their families. Music, special dishes, sugar skulls and marigolds are traditionally seen in homes and graveyards. The tradition blended with the Catholic tradition known as “All Souls Day.”
