Cuesta College Community Programs presents An Afternoon Concert of Trumpet Music, featuring the San Luis Obispo County Trumpet Alliance, on Sunday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Morro Bay. The concert, directed by Dr. Warren Balfour and Lyle Stubson, will feature a varied program of chamber music, jazz, African and American folk music, swing, and patriotic selections. The event benefits the United Cerebral Palsy affiliate Arts for Living; donations will be accepted at the door.

Formed in 2011, the Trumpet Alliance promotes the rehearsal and performance of trumpet chamber music. This advanced group is comprised of local musicians who are educators, business professionals and retirees.

United Cerebral Palsy of San Luis Obispo County is a non-profit organization that supports children and adults with disabilities in San Luis Obispo County. Arts for Living engages persons with developmental disabilities in the community through inclusion in music and visual arts, developing skills for expansion of personal expression, group interaction and community connections.

Trumpet Alliance members include Robert Alberts, Dr. Warren Balfour, Danny Beher, Bob Bennett, Jerry Boots, Jess Cheda, Ted Hamm, David Johns, Jim Kerber, Bruce Knowlton, Mitch Latting, Joe Montgomery, Jim Rabourn, Rich Smucker, Lyle Stubson, and Steve Vines.

Music to be performed by the following composers: Leroy Anderson, Bob Bennett, Morley Calvert, Bruce Chidester, Donald Coakley, Eric Ewazen, Vera Horven, Ernest Lecuona, David Marlatt, Kevin McKee, James Olcott, Gary Slechta, and John Philip Sousa.
